Statement of Giving
One of my main reasons for writing this book is my passion for working with people to build stronger relationships. Being a father, I see this first installment of the Moments Series for Fathers as a way to encourage dads to work at being great dads – one moment at a time.
While I see many relationships that have a solid foundation to build upon, I also realize there are many other relationships that have been damaged and need to be rebuilt. Just as I am committed to helping people improve, there are those who are equally committed to helping people rebuild – which I believe is extremely significant work done by extra special people.
Their commitment inspires me, so I have pledged a portion of each book sold to give to organizations doing this wonderful work of finding those needing some rebuilding in their lives. So what can each of you do? Your commitment to building a solid relationship with your new child and those other important people in your life is the most important step – so start working on that, one moment at a time. But I also encourage you to look in your own community to find the individuals/organizations doing the work of rebuilding and lend your encouragement and support to them. While you might feel a bit overwhelmed now – be thankful for the love and support that you have been blessed with, and don’t underestimate the power of giving. I have always been amazed by the return I receive from giving a little – and my guess is that we all have a little we can give. So pass a little hope and encouragement along.
